Urban Knee:
Redirecting Le Courneuve
The Grand Paris project proposes a new suburban metro system that connects various suburban stops. Our site is in Le Courneuve, about a 40-minute train ride from central Paris. My project envisions a mixed-use building situated atop the newly constructed Le Courneuve metro station, one that serves as an new urban knee.
This project establishes Le Courvenue’s community identity by embracing
its existing local axes and redirecting public life along them. The building
synchronizes with the neighborhood’s movements and serves as a mixed-use
infrastructure. Capped by the Housing bar, the new metro station hosts a
comprehensive set of programs that cater to the evolving needs of Le
Courneuve’s residents.
